message | Hi QLTS,
By way of introduction, my name is Zhang Jie, and I am working as an advocate & solicitor in Singapore (called to the Singapore bar in August 2020). I am practising mergers and acquisitions in Allen & Gledhill LLP.
As I am keen on taking the SQE to further my career, I would love to find out more about the exemption from the SQE2 assessment. May I check if there are any other requirements aside from a two-year working experience (which I have)? I noticed that there might be a requirement involving the demonstration that my experience is equivalent to these five practice rights:
1/ Criminal litigation (including advising clients at the police station)?
2/ Civil litigation, which is referred to as dispute resolution on the form
3/ Property practice?
4/ Wills and intestacy, probate administration and practice?
5/ Business organisations rules and procedures
However, given my that I've been specialising in private M&A transactions and have not had exposure to any of the above fields of practice, I'll be grateful for your thoughts on my chances for SQE2 exemption.
Looking forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience!
Best regards,
Zhang Jie |
